Bills will get early start on training camp, have 20 practices set in Rochester

The Buffalo Bills will open training camp practices on July 20 at St. John Fisher College in suburban Rochester, the team announced today. The start of camp is eight days earlier than last year, due to the fact the team is playing an extra exhibition game. The Bills will face the New York Giants in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 3. Even though the Bills start camp early, there are only two more practice sessions at training camp than last year. The Bills have 20 practices set, with seven of them in the evening. Last year camp started on July 28 and there with 18 practices set, with five in the evening. The reasons there aren't even more practices this year is each of the Bills' first three exhibition games are away from home and the Bills will travel to the Pittsburgh Steelers' camp for part of one week in advance of a preseason game with the Steelers. After the Canton game, the Bills visit Carolina on Aug. 8 and Pittsburgh on Aug. 16. The early road games will allow construction workers more time to get the extensive renovations at Ralph Wilson Stadium completed. The Bills' final two exhibitions are at home, Aug. 23 against Tampa and Aug. 28 against Detroit.

The Bills also have a new corporate sponsor for training camp. The law firm Connors & Ferris, which has offices in Buffalo and Rochester, is the presenting sponsor. Last year Verizon Wireless was the sponsor.

The Bills' training camp schedule at the St. John Fisher campus in Pittsford: July 20, 6:10 p.m.; July 21, 2:10 p.m.; July 22, 8:10 a.m.; July 23, 8:10 a.m.; July 25, 6:10 p.m.; July 26, 6:10 p.m. July 27, 2:10 p.m.; July 28, 8:10 a.m.; July 30, 2:10 p.m.; July 31, 8:10 a.m.; Aug. 1, 6:10 p.m. Aug. 5, 6:10 p.m.; Aug. 6, 2:10 p.m.; Aug. 9, 6:10 p.m.; Aug. 10, 2:10 p.m.; Aug. 12, 8:10 a.m. Aug. 18, 6:10 p.m.; Aug. 19, 2:10 p.m.; Aug. 20, 8:10 a.m.; Aug. 21, 2:10 p.m.

New corporate sponsor? Is it any wonder that it is a law firm? this way the players already have their attorney on retainer.
