Buffalo Bills rookies and first-year players will report to One Bills Drive today, while the majority of the players - the veterans - will start arriving to training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford on Friday.

The actual reporting date for veterans is Saturday. The team's first practice is set for 6 p.m. Sunday.

The Bills will be the first team in the NFL to open training camp this summer, thanks to the fact they are playing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 3. Their opponent in that game, the New York Giants, don't report to training camp until Monday.

The vast majority of the rest of the teams in the NFL will have their veterans report between next Wednesday and Friday, July 25.

The Bills are one of a dozen NFL teams that conduct training camp away from their team headquarters. The others are Indianapolis, Kansas City, the New York Jets, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Carolina, Chicago, Dallas, Minnesota, New Orleans and Washington.

The teams that travel the farthest for camp are Dallas and New Orleans. The Cowboys go to Oxnard, Calif. The Saints go to White Sulpher Springs, W.Va.
